Patrons who frequent a casino start to develop a ritual. After all, we are creatures of habit. These rituals include everything from playing your favorite slot, to cashing in at your preferred cashiers booth. A casino ritual can be a good thing to have, especially if you have homed your system to maximize your profits.

An Example of a Casino Ritual

A player walks in to a casino. They immediately head to the cashier’s booth to get chips or change. Next, the walk to their favorite poker table, roulette wheel, or slot machine. Once they sit down, they place their first bet. The amount of their first bet depends on the type of player they are. One player may place the minimum bet, to start small. While another player may hit the maximum betting button just to see where it leads. From there the player will continue to play their favorite machine or table for awhile until they decide it is time to move on. The player will systematically move through out the casino until they have either spent their bank roll, or are happy with their winnings.

The Type of Person Who Develops a Casino Ritual

Almost anyone who visits a casino more then occasionally will develop a casino ritual, even if it is unintentional. However, slot players are the most common type of ritual players. If you watch an avid slot machine player, they will often go from one machine to another, placing a certain amount of bets. It can be entertaining to watch, but these people actually have a system, and it may be paying off for them in the long run.

Do Casino Rituals Pay Off?

The short answer, yes and no. Having a system for playing at the casino is a good way to keep yourself from blowing through your entire bankroll faster then you intended. A ritual can also be a good way to increase your profits. For example, if part of your ritual is to start playing a slot machine at the minimum bet until you win a certain amount. Then you take that amount and use it to increase your bet in increments then a ritual will actually pay off for you.

Poker is more then a game, it is a culture. A culture of people who like to have fun, compete, and win big. Being a part of that culture goes beyond knowing the rules of the games, you have to be able to walk the walk and talk the talk. Learning the walk takes time, and a significant amount of practice. Learning the talk, however, is much easier. Just read on for the most commonly heard phrases around the poker table.

Seven Poker Phrases a Poker Player Must Learn

1. Bank Roll: A bank roll is the money you have to work with when you walk in to a casino or poker room. Your bank roll represents that sum total of what you plan to gamble at the table.

2. Dealer’s Choice: Commonly heard in at-home poker games, dealer’s choice simply means the dealer is allowed to choose which game will be played at the table. He or she is also allowed to decide on any wild cards that will be used during the game.

3. Fish: A fish is the player loosing the most money at the poker table. Fish is a term commonly heard in casinos. Casino employees, and opposing players, are always on the look out for the fish.

3. Full Ring: A full ring is a poker table that has reached its maximum number of players. How many players a table must have to be a full ring depends on the game.

4. Marked Cards: Marked cards refer to a deck of cards that have been marked on the back side of each card so that a player can see what they are from both sides. Mark cards are a form of cheating in poker.

5. Pot: The pot refers to the amount of money in the pool for pot games or the amount of money bet so far in an individual hand for non-pot games. There is a minimum and maximum pot placed in some poker games.

6. Rake: A rake is what the house will collect for holding a poker game. A percentage of each hand is placed in to the rake and the house collects the total at the end.

7. Showdown: The showdown occurs at the end of each hand. During the showdown, every player still in the game must show their cards.

Caribbean poker is a variation of traditional five card poker where the player’s goal is to have the highest five card hand based on the standard high hand ratings found in most poker games. In Caribbean poker the chances of winning are increased by a progressive jackpot that continually rises as each hand is dealt at the table.

The Top Five Tips for Winning at Caribbean Poker

1. Always bet on the progressive jackpot. The progressive jackpot in Caribbean poker can get pretty high as the came progresses. If you are not betting on the progressive jackpot during each hand you lose out on the opportunity to win the pot. Always place a bet on the progressive pot in every hand you play.

2. Always bet the maximum you can on the progressive jackpot. Perhaps just as important as betting on the progressive jackpot is the importance of betting the maximum your bankroll allows. Placing a larger bet in to the pot not only increases the total pot, but encourages other players at the table to do the same.

3. Do not fold unless you have too. It is common for beginners to fold at the first sight of a bad hand. Folding in Caribbean poker automatically causes you to lose your Ante bet. If you see the possibility of turning your hand around when the second round of cards are dealt, it is best to keep playing rather then forfeit your bet entirely.

4. Pay close attention to the dealer’s hand. Caribbean poker is based off the dealer’s hand. If the dealer’s face up card is a high card, he or she may be able to win that round. However, if the dealer’s hand is not Ace King or higher all players are guaranteed to double their original Ante bet, which is an easy way to make quick cash in Caribbean poker.

5. Spread out your bank roll. It may take several hands to win any serious cash in Caribbean poker. If you have a limited bank roll be sure to spread it out accordingly. Remember that any player is required to raise their Ante bet after the dealer’s hand is revealed, which can quickly decrease your bank roll.

Like most poker games, the more you know about Caribbean poker, the better you will play. Increasing your skill level will help you win more rounds and more cash.
